Vision

Youth growing up in foster care & the justice system are shown they are somebody and given opportunities to develop the skills and relationships needed to reach their potential and become ready for good, in life and work.

Mission

To prepare youth for success in life and in work who are growing up in the foster care and juvenile justice systems.

Activities

Ready for Good trains and mentors 50+ youth annually in its “Furnished for Good” program that takes youth 10 weeks to complete, on average. It provides paid work experience, training in life and job readiness skills, mentorship, and wraparound support services.

Ready for Good Furnishings

We operate a nonprofit store in order to create work opportunities and space for job training and mentorship. This store is open to the public, and all proceeds go towards our mission.

Our nonprofit furniture store, Ready for Good Furnishings, is located at 708 Connecticut St, Lawrence, KS 66044. See the map at the bottom of this page. We are open to the public Mon - Sat : 10am-6pm, and Sundays: 1-4pm.

“The Logbook”

The story of Ready for Good as it unfolds . . .

March 7th, 2024: first graduate of our program to get job at an employer partner due to advocacy by Ready for Good staff. (Many other youth have gotten jobs that have graduated our program, but none of those situations integrally required our staff to make the introduction and connection for placement).

Feb 2024: the Douglas County Community Foundation provides funding to help Ready For Good graduates connect to middle-skill jobs

December 2023: the Lawrence Board of Realtors Foundation provides funding for Ready for Good to start helping youth connect to middle-skill career jobs

October 18th, 2023: REDF invites Ready For Good to be a member of the Winter 2024 cohort of the REDF Accelerator Program.
